The third important gathering this quarter was our annual Day of the Family of God. This event brought together families from several congregations to celebrate the unity of God’s people. Through singing, preaching, and fellowship, we were reminded that God not only blesses our homes but also calls us to live out His mission together.

The event also gave church members the opportunity to renew friendships with brethren from other congregations. All the congregations in the region are daughter or granddaughter church plants of the downtown ‘mother’ church. Over the years, many have become Christians through the ministry of the downtown congregation. As the church grew, instead of investing in a building program, the vision was to plant churches in the suburbs where the members lived.

The theme this year was “A Family with God’s Mission.” We always need to remember that the world needs to hear the story of Jesus, and we have the privilege of being the messengers. There were 862 participants representing twenty-three area congregations.

These gatherings are very dear to us. Year after year they have proven to be an excellent means to spread the gospel and strengthen friendships within the church. Many times, these events bring family members to know the Lord and His church.
